Our History
Mack Technologies was formed in August 1993 through a divestiture of Sun Microsystems’ East Coast Manufacturing operation in Massachusetts. Mack Molding, a significant supplier to the Sun Microsystems facility, was a natural fit to acquire the manufacturing operation.
Since that time, Mack has heavily reinvested into the business and diversified into new markets, technical capabilities, and geographic locations. With roots in the box build and systems integration business, Mack soon added printed circuit board assembly capabilities to its range of services. As the technology boom of the late 1990s was coming to an end, Mack’s management team made a deliberate decision to diversify the business into new markets while also continuing to serve the computing and communications markets. Mack’s ability and reputation for manufacturing highly complex products in a low volume, high mix environment, along with significant financial investment, enabled the company to successfully enter new markets including industrial controls, broadcast equipment, and laboratory diagnostic devices. Mack invested further and developed contract manufacturing prowess in several highly regulated industries, such as medical device manufacturing, military equipment manufacturing, and avionic controls manufacturing.
In a fiercely competitive landscape, many contract manufacturers have reduced their North American footprint and shifted attention and resources to manufacturing operations in Asia and Eastern Europe. Mack Technologies has chosen a different strategy. Continuing to focus on servicing manufacturing requirements for products that are best suited for manufacturing within North America, Mack purchased manufacturing operations in Florida and Mexico in October 2002. Located on the Space Coast in Florida, the Melbourne facility services the military, industrial, and communications markets. Located directly across the border from El Paso, Texas, the Juarez facility serves the industrial and communications markets for products that are mainly sold or integrated within North America.
Looking to the future, Mack will continue to be a customer focused organization committed to reinvesting profits in new technologies, capital equipment, and people in order to maintain its position as a leading contract manufacturer of complex printed circuit board assemblies and system integrations.
