MACK Technologies sees strong improvements in deployment of VALOR

Apr 08, 2004

Trilogy 5000 increases overall manufacturing productivity and broadens Mack Technologies' added value service offering to its customers

Valor Computerized Systems [FSE: VCR, WKN 928731], the leader in productivity increasing engineering software solutions to the electronics design and manufacturing industry, today announced that Mack Technologies, Inc. a US based Electronics Manufacturing Services provider, successfully deployed Valor's Trilogy 5000 CAD-to-Assembly solution to increase overall manufacturing efficiencies and enhance customer satisfaction.

Trilogy 5000 is in use at Mack Technologies' main production facility in Westford, MA but the planned near term roll out of Trilogy 5000 to Mack Technologies' new production sites in Florida and Mexico emphasizes the excellent return on investment establishing Trilogy 5000 as its corporate-wide NPI (New Product Introduction) solution.

"Our strength is to provide our customers with quick time-to-market for complex board and box builds. Trilogy 5000 enables us to effectively streamline technical and logistical data flows and to validate them from one centralized ODB++ driven data base," says Steve Barbera, Vice President of Technical Operations at Mack Technologies' corporate headquarters.

Barbera continues, "Valor's integrated software engineering tools and the latest enhancements to version 7 have further improved our engineering productivity and manufacturing efficiency. This enables us to pass on additional benefits to our customers leading to faster product turnarounds and improved end-product quality. Our strong relationship with Valor is based on their ability to consistently deliver solutions and services that extend our value proposition to our customers and lead to a growth in our overall business."

Mack Technologies takes advantage of Valor's streamlined design-to-assembly process flow to accelerate NPI operations for high-mix production cycles and complex product runs.

With Trilogy 5000 Mack Technologies is using a fully integrated engineering solution, which is based on a single system to provide measurable downstream benefits throughout the entire CAD to assembly process. Mack Technologies utilizes Trilogy's utmost flexibility in BOM/AVL handling of infinite customer formats coupled with upload-capabilities into Mack Technologies' ERP system for increased procurement efficiencies. Best-in-class DFM (Design for Manufacturability) software for fabrication and assembly, supported by Valor's Part Library (VPL) for accurate physical component geometries reduces revision spins and enables a validated, virtual manufacturing simulation of the to be assembled product before it hits the production floor.

Barbera points out "Trilogy 5000 enables us to maximize utilization of our assembly equipment resources. We are able to increase our throughput because of reduced set-up times and fewer changeovers. This is especially important when handling low to medium volume production orders in a time-flexible production environment."

Valor's Manufacturing Process Simulation (MPS) technology is based on accurate kinematic models of assembly machines and forms the basis of Trilogy's superior, cross-vendor assembly line optimization and programming tool. Trilogy 5000 automatically generates detailed and rich assembly documentation, which fully supports Mack Technologies' paperless working environment adding to the increase in overall productivity.

Chuck Feingold, President at Valor North America comments on this successful customer implementation "We are very pleased with the positive impact Trilogy 5000 has had on Mack Technologies' production process. Mack Technologies represents a key segment of our important customer base that works closely with Valor as drivers of innovation in technology development. Valor solutions have become the industry's first choice for re-engineering and optimizing of existing production processes, leading to improvements in productivity, return on assembly equipment investments and broader customer service applications."
